African American History begins in Africa

The Cradle of Humankind is located in Northwest province, South Africa. It is an area UNESCO declared as a World Heritage Site. includes remains of hominids from about 2 to 3.3 million years ago. There is also proof of early stone-age, middle stone-age, later stone-age, early and late iron-age and modern people. Thousands of fossils that show human evolution over the past 3.5 million years have been found since 1936. These fossils are important because they show how these human ancestors lived, what they ate and what animals and plants existed with them.

The site includes underground caves to be explored and an extensive museum with exhibits.
